REDgen mental health series
REDgen is a non-profit organization rooted in Milwaukee, WI all about boosting the mental health and well-being of young folks through education. At the forefront of their efforts is this 9-part animated series that explores essential topics like resilience, stress, and well-being. Each episode explores scenarios experienced by teenagers in relation to these themes. The series is played in middle and high schools across Wisconsin.

An introduction to the overarching themes explored in the series. We’ll delve into topics like resilience, stress, authenticity, physical & mental well-being, connection, purpose, and community.

Exploring the scientific processes of the brain during times of stress, and tips on how to slow your body down when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
authenticity
Learning to remove the masks that hold us back from being our true, authentic selves. Teaching how to replace fear of judgement with self-compassion, and accepting that knowing yourself is a life-long journey.
well-being
Physical Health & Breaking Down Disgust
Explaining the connection between our physical and mental health by showing how feelings of disgust can manifest. Providing ways to process feelings like being more compassionate or practicing self-care.

Exploring the balance between emotions and logic during times of stress. Learning how to reframe your experience with tips to bring yourself back to the present moment. Building thoroughly integrated and thoughtful responses amid overwhelming moments.
connection
Illustrating how our relationships and connections with others help to support us when we are stressed, and that they can also drain us. Teaching about setting healthy boundaries through respectful communication. Learning that strong relationships are built on trust, respect, and communication.
finding purpose
Exploring how our passions, values, strengths and weaknesses can help us to discover our true calling. Encouraging curiosity over judgement and authenticity over self doubt.
community
Explaining that relationships and connections with others build strong communities. Showing that communities provide connection and a sense of belonging, but judgement and bias can ruin those connections. Providing encouragement to have uncomfortable conversations that will help to break down biases and allow sadness to pass.

Mental Health & Unpacking Shame
Opening the door to understanding the similarities between mental and physical health. Exploring the things that impact our mental health like thoughts, stress, and experiences . Explaining that stigmas like shame can stop us from asking for help when we’re not feeling well mentally.
